How did Hunger Needs a Voice® get its start?

Hunger Needs a Voice® was birthed by Jordan Roberts, the daughter of Richard and Lindsay Roberts and granddaughter of Oral Roberts. The idea came to Jordan while she was on a missionary trip with Oral Roberts Ministries in Niger, Africa, in January 2007.

On that trip, Jordan and some fellow university students accompanied doctors, nurses, and ministry staff members to conduct crusades and provide medical aid to the sick. There, she saw the needs of the people in Niger. The group had brought meals along with them for the hungry, but the food quickly ran out because there was such a dire need. Everyone needed food. And the group didn’t have enough to go around!

It was in that moment that the truth of worldwide hunger hit home with Jordan Roberts. Feeding the hungry is more than a good cause—it is essential to the wellbeing of children who have no means of helping themselves.
